288800 fixed obfuscation lists. Each one maps the 2,048 alphabetical BIP39 words to a different — but permanent — randomized counterpart. The mapping for List #03 today is the mapping for List #03 forever. Choose one, view it, download it.
One of the biggest security flaws in crypto today is that most users write down and store their backup seed phrases exactly as they are, with no obfuscation. This means that anyone who finds a physical copy of the seed phrase can steal all of their crypto.
As a result, many users are storing what may be millions of dollars essentially “under their mattress,” believing it is safe, when in reality, someone could physically break into their home, find the seed phrase, and steal everything. This is a huge flaw.
We propose a solution to this problem called Obfuscation Lists.
The process is simple: you select an obfuscation list, download it, and then write down the corresponding obfuscated word for each word in your seed phrase. That way, if someone ever finds the physical copy of your seed phrase and tries to use it, all they see is the obfuscated version, which cannot be used to steal your funds.
Then, whenever you need to use your seed phrase, you locate the full obfuscation list and reverse the process by matching each obfuscated word back to its original word, one by one. Each obfuscation list is simply a randomization of the full 2048 BIP39 english words list.
Note: these are personal substitution ciphers, not security tools. Anyone with the same numbered list can reverse the mapping. Treat the list number as a secret and the file as sensitive.
